Graduation Night

It doesn't matter if you call it Graduation Night, Promenade or Formal Dance. What actually happens is, everyone put a heck lot of effort into looking their best by spending crazy amount of money on their dress, hair, make up, shoes, accessories, and whatever you have to do to look pretty. All the work for a 3 course dinner at a rather fancy hotel before everyone wonders about and have take more snapshots. Then, you'll say goodbye and probably never meet some of your friends for a rather long time or maybe not (for my case).

Now, this is how my night went or maybe I should say my day.

I got ready pretty darn early, 12.45pm to be exact. I just have to buy a dress without a zipper, so the only way for me not to mess up my hair and make up is to wear the dress before hand. Hair was suppose to be at 1.15pm, thought I'll get it done at a nearby saloon. When I got there, the hairstylist was outside and very obviously just lighted up his cigarette. So I was pretty darn mad when I had to wait for him to finish it, before he get started on my hair. He took about an hour curling and pinning everything up. I was a happy kid when I only paid RM30 for the whole up do. Then, drove all the way to Sunway Pyramid with my sister and got my make up done. Reached back home like 15 minutes before Jon and Hong Ye got here.

Went over to Zhi Lynn's place to pick her up, and after that traffic was just plain horrible. Got a couple of wrong turnings as well and reached JW Marriott a lot later than everyone else.

Met up with everyone and cameras were just snapping everywhere. It was nice to meet up with everyone again, although we sort of have a small visit over to Cheras just a couple of days before Prom. They had this photo session got going on, where a professional photographer will snap and print the picture for you instantly. We took advantage of that as well before settling in our table, table number 35.

It started of with a few typical speeches, follow by a dance by our lecturers as well as the other students. It was pretty good, would have been better if I could get a clearer view from the table. It was a pretty big hall, with at least 60 tables of 10 people. So yeah, it was a rather huge event. Can't remember the rest of the performance cause I was in and out of the ballroom so often.

Food came out pretty quick. It was a 3 course meal, appetizer was wild mushroom soup follow by chicken breast on potato with some soup and ended with a slice of passion fruit cheese cake. I wouldn't say it was delicious but it was alright. Nothing special to remember by, nothing that blows your mind away sort of food.

The rest of the night was full on photo session.
Photo credits to Malcolm Ng, who is so amazing for taking all these wonderful shots.

The class of 1001PM4.

Since my picture quality ain't that good, I decided to make a collage, no point uploading 13254385 pictures up on my blog since it will take forever. Malcolm's picture however is amazing, so I don't have the heart to edit it. Plus, it won't be nice to remove his watermark.

More high quality group shots.

Terance and the girls.

The guys all suit up.

Fortunate enough to know these two lovelies, I'll always a wonderful time with them. You'll never know what silly things they'll say next.

When it was time for lucky draw, all of us certainly got pretty excited. It was hilarious how enthusiastic everyone was with such a low probability of us even winning anything. It was fun anyway. Cheering for the wrong person, cause one of our friend read the wrong number on his little paper. Getting all upset when somebody else won the iPad. It was all good though.

Brought Kareshma, Shiva and Grace to the dance floor after that. K-Town Clan was performing, and it was probably because of the song, it wasn't very fun to dance to. When the DJ started to play more familiar songs. We started to feel the rhythm and joined in with Terance, Yee Wen, Wei Le and Krystle. I flipped when I heard Party Rock Anthem, and started shuffling around with my high heels.

People started to leave around 12am. It was getting late and the journey back home takes at least 40 minutes. No after party for me though, I don't see the point since I don't drink alcohol, and there was a car full of people that I car pooled with.

The dinner itself wasn't much but it was the whole experience that was so meaningful. The prom dress hunting, it was crazy how many malls I went to look for the one I love. The countless of conversations with the best friends about this. The pictures we took with everybody all dolled up, even if it's only for a night. One very final event with the whole class before everyone flying off to different parts of the world; a 3 days 2 nights Pangkor Island trip.

Now that you thought my friends and I would have grown up. Considering the fact that we have been through A Levels, one of the hardest pre university programme out there in a short one and a half years in Taylor's College. Think again.

Blarghhhhh. We'll just never grow up.

I certainly had a wonderful time.

Aly.

P.S / Will be going off to Pangkor Island with the class tomorrow, so so so excited.
