Father's Day with David Choi

Oh yes I did. The whole day of doing absolutely nothing but lining up and meeting/watching David Choi plus a bunch of other YouTube lovers. It certainly was nice to be able to communicate with people with the same YouTube obsession. Like I can tell a joke from a video and they'll just understand exactly where I got it from. Teehee.

There was a meet and greet and a concert/showcase on the same day. Thank goodness the two locations are just walking distance away. So I spent the whole day with my sister at Damansara.

We reached there around 11.30am and had brunch at Ikea Restaurant. Then, we went straight to Rock Corner at The Curve. I was surprised to even see a line already. Stood still for close to 2 hours before David Choi came. The line got so long, it actually freaked me out. I mean, you will not even know who David Choi is if you don't go on YouTube and search for covers/songs. So to see a long line of people, I was happy.

Meet and Greet was at The Curve's Rock Corner.

Gave the camera to a guy who works at Rock Corner, and he managed to take a couple of nice shot. I'm happy.

The next picture is just beyond creepy and weird. Both David and I look so excited for reasons I don't even know. Or it was just the awkward conversation, he was about done and wanted to give a hug and I told him to look in the camera and smile.

David Choi then "left" the store using a back exit, which I was certain doesn't exist. I was so convinced that it was just a small store room. So my sister and I stayed back when everyone left, looking through albums with one eye kept to the back door.

I love how nothing is focus here.

Not long after, he came out and took a picture with us. I had the, "I-Know-I'm-Right" smirk going on. I can't possibly leave knowing that I haven't have a decent picture with him can I ! His management team aren't that nice about it though, I mean I certainly think it'll be quicker for me to take a picture with him then to say "no" countless of time. I can be very persuasive and of course David is so nice about it. Not that I'm putting the blame into anybody, they're just doing their job of "protecting" David I guess.

I was so happy with the picture, I decided I'll be civilized and not stalk him all over the place. He left the building and so did we. I thought it'll be a little creepy and stalkerish for me to continue following behind him, so my sister and I decided to use the other entrance to go to Ikea for a quick bite. His car was conveniently there and we waved goodbye.

My mother and brother came for a quick shopping spree in Ikea. So we met up with them over soft drinks and hot dogs before heading over to the auditorium. As I know that we will not be having any dinner or any sort of food until 11pm.

It was already pretty crowded at the auditorium when my sister and I got there. I guess we were lucky, there was a glass door before the door to the auditorium. So we sat outside for about 10 minutes before they open up the glass door. Half of the people rushed to the counter to redeem their tickets, and thankfully my mum bought for me at Rock Corner so I already have mine. So I rushed to the door and sat there.

A couple of hours later with chit chat with DChoi's fans as well as a few of his management team. Oh, there was also a moment when David tried to be all ninja and take a picture of us. Since I was right in front of the door, I cheered and everyone went crazy.

He twitpic about it right away.

They finally open the door and I have to be the first one in the auditorium. Got the best seat in the house for my sister and I. Right in the centre of the very first row. Hell yeah !

Jaydee from Fly.FM was the host for the night while Hunny Madu from Fly.FM as well open for the show. She sang 2 songs, but frankly, I felt as if it was 5 songs. They were all medley and very long.

So when David Choi came out, everyone was excited ! Still wearing the exact same clothes, he sat on the chair and started talking. I can't remember exactly everything that happened but I know it was a fun show. The crowd is amazing being so interactive, it was full of jokes and amazing songs. How much better can that get right ?

Here's a list of what he sang:
  1. YouTube Love Song
  2. Valentines
  3. Something To Believe
  4. So Weightless
  5. Always Hurt
  6. Enjoy The View
  7. Love
  8. My Company
  9. Only You
  10. Rocketeer
  11. Won't Even Start
  12. You Were My Friend
  13. This and That is Life
  14. That Girl
  15. By My Side
I am very certain because I have the paper he wrote the list of songs on, with his scribbling all over it. Teehee.

It wasn't like any other concert I went. This is a lot more smaller with about 500 people and the fact that David really interacted with everyone. Halfway through the show, he started reading tweets and even asked everyone to do a human tsunami wave. He then tweeted about it right away with a list of random words people were shouting out.

Try and spot where I sat, you can't miss it. For the video, just click on the screen cap.

By the time David started singing, I believe it was 8pm and the show ended at 10pm. So there was a total of 2 whole hours of David being on stage entertaining everybody. I would definitely say it's worth every penny though. I can only imagine what will happen if the whole crew came, like nigahiga, kevjumba, wong fu productions, victor kim, aj rafael, jr aquino, kina grannis, cathy nguyen, chester see, and of course the whole quest crew.

All in all, it was such a lovely day. 190611
